Giant’s Causeway
Giant's Causeway was my first backlit framed Tessellation, and I love the way it came out. The idea came to me when I developed a new module creating a star shape on the page. I found that if I were to tessellate this, I could indent the dividing sections creating the semi-triangular indentions surrounding each of the stars. There is no glass on the front of this piece, it is held in the frame by tension on the edges alone. This piece also features a built in backlight in the frame, which gives it a stunning new life when shown in a darker area. I especially love how the light can be set to intensify and fade in cycle, making the piece feel almost as if it is breathing.
