Snake Bowl
Snake Bowl is a piece I created using strips of elephant hide attached together at the ends, creating one strip of unbroken paper. I believe the total length of the rope is around 15 feet long, though it curls in on itself naturally so it is hard to say. The rope is loose in the bowl, and can be arranged as neatly or messily as you would like. The inspiration for this piece came from a similar piece I finished a few weeks before. I was reading the book "The Way of Kings" at the time and the copy I had fell apart as I was reading it. I loved the black and white artwork featured in this novel, and decided to attach the ends of the pages together to create a simple unbroken chain. I had been creating a lot of simple lamps at the time, and found that if I extended this design I could create a sort of tube out of the paper. This other work is featured on my instagram in the snake bowl post if you are interested in seeing the concept.
